Preliminary Designs
Phonograph

Pro's and Con's
The advantage of having a phonograph is that it could be used for both entertainment and communication. Originally, it was used as a recording device in business communication and to keep solid records of meetings and conversations. Eventually, the phonograph was used to play music and/or recordings of the most famous artists at that time.
The disadvantages of the phonograph is that it is out of date and various breakthroughs such as, the recorder or Mp3 players, have replaced it. In addition, nowadays it is not a practical item to own. Finally, it was unable to communicate over distances.
Bridges
Suspension

Pro's
Some advantage to the suspension bridge which makes it more desireable design to others is that it can be built higher than most. This feature makes it a better solution to building over water. The suspension bridge is a very flexible structure which in turn lets it flex under wind of 55mph. Finally, since it is lighter than other systems they are often less expensive to build and preserve.
Con's
On the other hand there are also some disadvantages to consider. Since it lacks stiffness suspension bridges may be unstable in stormy conditions. In addition, it can not be used for the transportation of heavy loads.
Cable Stayed
Pro's
The advantages of the cable stayed bridge design can be summarized as such. Even though it is flexible, it is still very strong and can withstand earthquakes. In addition, it is economical because it is slender and lighter and can still be build over great distances. Finally, it can be appealing to the eye because it has a very modern look to it, nevertheless its still has a simple look to it.
Con's
As for the con's, even though the flexibility aspect of the cable stayed can serve as an advantage, it can also be unsafe due to high wind speeds. Moreover, this specific type of bridge has a complex structure making it hard to construct and takes a long time to build.
Flexible, weak to the wind
